Deplorables: Hilary was Right

I’m publishing this series of articles to share and discuss my ruminations on coping with a troubled and messy world. You can “follow” me to never miss an article.

Hillary Clinton was right when she said that those who supported Trump were Deplorables. It couldn’t be truer of those who’ve concocted Conspiracy Theories in effect blaming Democrats for the horrendous attack on Paul Pelosi.

Unbelievably, The New York Times reported that Conservative radio host Charles Kirk “expressed hope…that some ‘amazing patriot’ would post bail for Mr. DePape [the attacker] and become a ‘midterm hero.”[i]

The Times also reported that “While many Republican officials have denounced the violence, others have at the very least tolerated, and in some cases, cheered a violent assault on the spouse of a political rival.”

Others have blamed the attack as the result of Democrats being “soft on crime.” Others still have claimed that it was part of a “coverup.” And, of course, Liberals were using it to “politicize the attack’.

Time and again I’m reminded of the charge levelled against Joe McCarthy: “Have you no sense of decency?” Have Republicans no sense as to how they are tearing our Democracy apart? Do they even care? Apparently not.

Don’t be fooled by Republicans for one instant. They will not fix what ails us. They will only make it worse. As imperfect as Democrats are, they are our only hope.
